About
Sciences Po is an international research university, both selective and open onto the world, ranking among the finest institutions in the fields of humanities and social sciences. Founded in 1872 by Émile Boutmy as the École Libre des Sciences Politiques, it was created to educate a new elite and generate modern knowledge for France following the Franco-Prussian War. Over a century and a half later, it has become an international research university offering a distinctly French approach to higher education.
