Singapore Armed Forces (SAF)
About
The mission of the Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) is to enhance Singapore's peace and security through deterrence and diplomacy, and should these fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory over the aggressor. Singapore's defence history began in 1854 with the Singapore Volunteer Rifle Corps; following independence in 1965 the SAF was established, and National Service was introduced in 1967. Since then, the SAF has evolved into a modern, networked force.
